Due to a strong background in commercial real estate leasing and development, Lee understands the many factors that affect decision-making for real estate projects. He believes economic incentives should complement and fit a real estate strategy—and not the other way around.

New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC)

Lee’s early professional career included over a decade working for the NYCEDC where he was responsible for company attraction and retention, accomplished through specialized, discretionary, and statutory (as-of-right) economic incentives packages.

While at NYCEDC, he worked on several of the largest economic incentive packages awarded to-date, including the construction of corporate headquarters, large-scale developments (stadiums, biomedical campuses), significant re-zonings, and many public-private partnerships.

Lee also served as Vice President, Director of Leasing for the NYCEDC’s portfolio of $4M+ in office, warehouse, industrial, and retail properties.

Background in Real Estate

Lee headed the New York regional incentives practice for Cushman & Wakefield, a global real estate services firm. He worked with clients and brokers in developing economic incentives strategies consistent with the company’s approach to projects involving property investments.

He is also the founding principal of WRE Consulting, which is comprised of former senior government economic development officials. The consultancy focuses on economic incentives, municipal finance, public-private partnerships, real estate development, and commercial leasing.
