Gil has complementary areas of expertise in public and private project financing due to a diverse client base with differing perspectives on real estate development, securities, and the capital markets.
Gil’s long tenure working in the capital markets and, specifically, in the bond structuring and placements arena, includes serving as counsel to both major financial institutions and multi-national design and construction practices. In private law practice, Gil worked for Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, an elite international law firm notable for its representation of the financial services industry. He also served as general counsel and corporate counsel for various companies under the Burns and Roe Group, an engineering, procurement, and construction firm with private and government clients worldwide.
Gil served as Law Secretary to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit (Hon. S.R. Waterman, C.J.) and as an officer of several ABA Committees, including the Committee on Federal Securities Regulations and the Section on Public Contract Law.
Since leaving private law practice, Gil has served as a senior investment banker with several major bond firms. He has also managed several independent project finance and securities firms. This experience built on his original tenure, much earlier in his career, as Director of the Real Estate Group at the Bear Stearns Companies, Inc. Subsequent to this position, Gil headed the Project Finance Group at Ehrlich Bober & Co., Inc., a New York-based national bond firm.
He is an expert in providing structured and securitized financing techniques and capital markets access for real estate. He developed several innovative taxable and tax-exempt financing structures for real estate and other non-traditional capital market borrowers. He was responsible for structuring and executing over $1B in project financing transactions.
Gil's strong relationships with various bond funds and commercial banks help ensure the successful placement of financial transactions for ThinkForward clients.
